Location:
Chestnut Hill College

The Montessori Teacher Education Program at Chestnut Hill College is presenting a keynote by Lorna McGrath, entitled "Cultivating Cooperative Classrooms."

In our classrooms we always are looking for ways to enhance children’s abilities to concentrate and learn.  We know from studies that when children feel loved, valuable, powerful and that they belong, they feel safe enough to focus and confident to try new activities.  In this session participants will develop strategies to better meet children’s needs which will decrease children’s misbehavior, producing a more cooperative, calm environment.  However, even though we can reduce misbehavior, we can’t eliminate it.  Sometimes challenging situations and power struggles do occur.  This session will address ways to create power for the children and yet not give up the things that are important for the safety and wellbeing of everyone.

All attendees must register. The cost for attendance is $65 for early registration (postmarked by Dec. 16) and $75 after Dec. 16. Cost includes reception, buffet dinner and attendance for the address. There will be a Cash Wine Bar at the reception. Checks can be made out to Chestnut Hill College and can be sent to Ellen Sheehan, 3304 Queen Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19129.
