Welcome to the first edition of a periodic news update from the Office of Alumni Relations. We hope you enjoy this quick reference to what's happening for, about, and involving alums of all Schools of the College --- plus a few campus tidbits.

We wish you a blessed Thanksgiving, and we thank you for your continued commitment to your alma mater, Chestnut Hill College.

A reminder that all news is always accessible on Griffins Online --- the alumni online community --- and on the College Web page.

"We Remember" Feature Introduced for All Souls Month
Offer a remembrance, request a prayer, or otherwise note the life of a deceased classmate, relative, or friend on Griffins Online. Once November's All Souls Month concludes, "We Remember" will remain an ongoing feature of the alumni online community, accessed on the left-hand navigational menu.

Christmas Season Festivities, Opportunities, Memories
Be sure to check out the Griffins Online Christmas Festivities posting for this year's weeklong schedule, especially for details concerning the fourth annual Carol Night Holiday Cheer at nearby Brittingham's Irish Pub.

Can't attend, not in the area? You can participate in Christmas Decorating Night by sharing your own memories with today's students by accessing the Christmas Decorating Night Message Board.

Interested in disposing of no-longer-wanted ornaments, decorations, other items while assisting the first-year students with their decorating plans? Take part in the College's oldest, continuous tradition --- whether you're on campus or not! All instructions are noted in the Griffins Online Christmas holidays posting.

Holiday Gift Ideas From CHC Faculty: Reading & Listening Recommendations for All Ages
Many alums asked for this list again, originally e-mailed last Christmas. Happy to oblige.

Travel Videos Offer Taste of Two June 2010 Trips
Plan your 2010 vacation now. It's too late to register for January and February trips to the Caribbean and South America, so don't lose out on the June trips. The Mediterranean and an Alpine excursion through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy --- with a special stop at Oberammergau for its famed Passion Play --- await. View the videos on Alumni Vacations by clicking to the Select a School or Organization drop-down menu on the top left for Chestnut Hill College and a glimpse of the sights and sounds of these two terrific travel opportunities.

Catch Griffins Team Fever
No time like the present to enjoy an NCAA Division II basketball game. In the area? Check out the Griffins women's and men's schedules and come on by, we're in Sorgenti Arena. Not local, but eager to wear your CHC gear and cheer on the Griffins? Away games are on tap during the next several weeks with Bloomfield, Caldwell, Wilmington University, and Goldey-Beacom. Be here ... be there ... be heard --- for your Griffins!

Groups Feature Now Available on Griffins Online
Alums can click into "organizational structures" within Griffins Online that represent who you are and the interests that draw you together. Every alum is assembled in My Groups according to graduation class. Those living in Pennsylvania are in the Pennsylvania group. Everyone is grouped according to major. Additional groups will be added, e.g., affinity and professional groups such as attorneys, physicians, teachers. What happens next is up to you. For example, your class can set up an e-mail network within My Groups. To take advantage of this feature, log into www.CHCgriffinsonline.com, click My Profile at the top of the page, click Groups and view where you're organized.

Nominations Open for Two Annual Alumni Awards
Alumni are invited to submit nominations for the Eleanore Dolan Egan '28 Award for Outstanding Service to Chestnut Hill College and for the Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award. Submissions are due by January 15. Click here for profiles of recipients, nomination forms, and nomination criteria.

Fall 2009 Edition of Chestnut Hill Magazine Arriving Now
Cost considerations and the College's commitment to environmentally-friendly initiatives prompted a recent change in mailing policy by the College's Office of Publications. Print copies of the current edition of Chestnut Hill magazine were mailed to alums who made a charitable gift of any size to the College during the last 10 years. Access to this publication is available to all readers, and in turn-page mode, by clicking here.

Be sure to catch up on alumni information, 45+ class notes, and a profile of lifelong learner and activist Marilyn Leonard MacMaster '49 in the AlumniLink section of Chestnut Hill magazine. Do you have news you'd like to share with other CHC alums, parents, and friends? E-mail your info to canningp@chc.edu by January 15 for presentation in the next edition of Chestnut Hill magazine.

If you've stayed in touch with one or more classmates in this circumstance, please contact the Alumni Relations Office.

School of Continuing & Professional Studies (SCPS) Reunion:  March 6
