Earthquake in Virginia
Release Date: Tuesday, August 23, 2011
We have experienced the effects of a 5.9 earthquake, located 3.7 miles under the ground. The epicenter was near Richmond, Virginia and felt as far away as New York, Ohio, Georgia, etc. We are monitoring the situation. Over the next few hours, there may be aftershocks of lesser intensity. There is a very small possibility that the aftershocks could be greater than the original 5.9 quake. Cell phones have lost power in Virginia and Maryland, if you are trying to reach anyone there.
Maintenance is checking the exterior of the buildings and Security is checking the interior of buildings and offices to determine if there is any damage.
We will keep you informed if there is further information that you need to know.
