Chestnut Hill College Celebrates 34th Annual Carol Night and Christmas Concerts

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A long standing tradition at Chestnut Hill College, the 34th annual Carol Night will take place on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rotunda of St. Joseph Hall. The College campus is located at 9601 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia.
This holiday celebration includes student performances by the Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, the Hill Singers, and String Ensemble. The program will include a lively selection of holiday favorites and features a visit from Santa.
In keeping with College tradition, the Rotunda and campus will be decorated for the holiday season, courtesy of the undergraduate classes of Chestnut Hill. This holiday decorating tradition, celebrating its 83nd year, was started by the first graduating class at Chestnut Hill College in 1927.
The annual Christmas Concert will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 3 p.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lafayette Hill, Pa. and on Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Mount St. Joseph Academy on Wissahickon Avenue in Flourtown. The Christmas concert features the Chestnut Hill College Community Chorus directed by Doris Schmauk, The Philadelphia Doctors’ Chamber Orchestra directed by Fawzi Habboushe, M.D., and the Chestnut Hill College Flute Ensemble directed by Barbara Glennon, SSJ.
The program will include special arrangements of Christmas carols and songs, and the chorus and orchestra will combine to also perform the Franz Schubert Mass in G and the second act finale from the opera Die Fledermaus.
